We are proud to announce that Off Da Glass Squad, Inc. has been recognized as the 2025 Resile One Community Partner Award Recipient.
Yolanda Torrence is the passionate founder, coach, and mentor behind Off Da Glass Squad, Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Oak Cliff, inner-city Dallas, that uses basketball as a tool to uplift and mentor underserved youth.
Her journey began 14 years ago while coaching a semi-pro women’s basketball team. She was invited to mentor students at Zumwalt Middle School, where she formed a basketball team that later evolved into Off Da Glass Squad. Since then, her mission has remained steadfast: to instill discipline, respect, self-esteem, and leadership in young people through the game they love.
Today, Off Da Glass Squad is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing basketball training, academic tutoring, and life skills development for middle school boys and girls from poverty-stricken areas in southern Dallas. The program goes beyond sports, offering essentials like transportation, uniforms, food, grooming and hygiene supplies, and cultural experiences—all free of charge.
Yolanda’s philosophy, “I respect you. You respect me. We respect each other,” guides her approach. Through her leadership, Off Da Glass Squad has become more than a basketball program—it is a safe haven, a learning space, and a pathway to hope and transformation for countless young people.
